Washington Ridge Release Path
Washington Ridge Conservation Camp #44 is a CDCR conservation camp at Nevada City, operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in cooperation with CAL FIRE. A participant at Washington Ridge remains a CDCR incarcerated person until CDCR releases, paroles, discharges, transfers, or returns that person to another institution. That makes this page different from the Wayne Brown and Truckee jail pages.
The Nevada County Sheriff's current roster and Jail Media Report are not the release archive for Washington Ridge. A person may be physically located in Nevada County while still being in state custody. Research angle L is the key distinction: "Nevada County custody" by geography is not the same as Nevada County Sheriff's custody. The release-confirming route is statewide CDCR CIRIS, CDCR case records, Board of Parole Hearings records, and DAPO supervision or discharge channels.

CIRIS is the correct public starting point for a Nevada County person sentenced to CDCR custody, housed in a state prison, assigned to a conservation camp, released from state prison to parole, or approaching a parole eligible date. It is not the same as the Nevada County current-custody roster.
- Search CIRIS by CDCR number when available. A CDCR number is stronger than a name because names can vary.
- If searching by name, compare full name, age, commitment county, admission date, current location, and status before treating a result as the right person.
- Read whether the record points to current CDCR custody, a parole or release-related status, or Board of Parole Hearings dates and outcomes.
- Use BPH records for parole suitability hearing schedules and results when a hearing controls release timing.
- Use DAPO or CDCR records channels for parole supervision, discharge card, or formal case-record questions.
Washington Ridge Records Contact
Washington Ridge has a local facility contact, but release and parole records are CDCR records. The facility can identify the camp as a CDCR location. CIRIS, BPH, DAPO, and CDCR records channels are the better sources for release, parole, discharge, or transfer confirmation. If a separate Nevada County court or jail case exists, use those local records only for the local case event.

CDCR's public service description says CIRIS results can include name, CDCR number, age, current location, commitment counties, admission date, and Board of Parole Hearing dates and outcomes for people currently in custody. Formal records, parole discharge documents, and case-specific release decisions may require the state office that owns that record.

Washington Ridge Conservation Camp #44 is a minimum-security conservation camp, not a Nevada County jail. CDCR's statewide conservation camp program operates with CAL FIRE and is staffed with correctional staff. Camp participants are CDCR incarcerated persons. Their release path can include parole, discharge, return to a parent institution, transfer, or other state action. Local Sheriff's release procedures do not govern the camp release in the way they govern Wayne Brown or Truckee releases.

Suitability hearings, credits, disciplinary losses, resentencing, court orders, administrative review, and recalculation can change what happens next.

Washington Ridge Parole Records
A person leaving Washington Ridge may be paroled, discharged, transferred, or returned to another institution. CDCR's Division of Adult Parole Operations supervises many people after prison release. Washington Ridge vs County Jail
The most common mistake is to search for a Washington Ridge participant in the Nevada County Sheriff's release reports. Wayne Brown and Truckee are county Sheriff's custody paths. Court holding is transport and court support. Washington Ridge is state custody. A county jail report may mention a transfer to CDCR, but it will not serve as the later state release archive.
If a person has both a Nevada County jail booking and a CDCR commitment, use both record tracks. The Jail Media Report or Sheriff's records request may show the county booking, release, or transfer event. CIRIS and CDCR case records show the later state custody and parole path. The court portal can link the county case disposition to the custody move. Matching name, date, court case, commitment county, and CDCR number keeps the records from being merged incorrectly.
Camp Walkaway or Transfer
If a Washington Ridge participant walks away, is returned, is transferred, or is moved back to a parent institution, CDCR state records and official public information are the relevant sources. Local law enforcement may appear in an incident response or court record only when a separate local event occurs.
